BELGIAN FINESSE UNDER YOUR FEET
Our country has a rich tradition in the production of carpets, with a textile past that dates back to the Middle Ages. But what is the current state of affairs? We map out a few home-grown players who combine style and craftsmanship.
MAISON FORTON:
circular designs, locally created
From old fishing nets, old carpets and factory waste to a brand new Belgian carpet: meet Maison Forton, the landmark player that converts waste into Econyl yarn, which is dyed without using water and then processed in Belgium into beautiful and soft quality carpets made from 80% recycled material.
Founder Jozefien Forton is transparent about the entire production chain and works meticulously behind the scenes on the first 100% circular carpet . Her current Pebbles collection, characterized by serene colors and organic shapes, is a beautiful example of how creativity and sustainability are not mutually exclusive
