our story
Designed to last.
Made with respect for people, made from 80% recycled material
How is our ecological carpet made?
Below we would like to openly and transparently share with you the various steps involved in making our guilt-free Maison Forton carpet. Total number of km traveled from yarn to carpet: 1,119 km . At least 10 times less than a carpet from Asia, a figure that does not take into account the origin of the yarn and production process of the carpet.
Pre- & Post-factory waste
Aquafil, Slovenia.
About 25% old fishing nets, 25% old carpets and 50% factory waste from Europe and the rest of the world are collected in Ljubljana. The waste is sorted and mechanically recycled into high-quality Econyl® yarn for endless use.
Social quality label: ISO 9001 & environmental label: OEKO-TEX Standard 100, ISO 14001. Reach compliance.
Anhydrous coloring of the fiber core
Aquafil, Slovenia.
70 m³ of water is saved with the solution dyed technique in a 100% controlled process according to European standards. The fiber is colourfast and UV resistant thanks to this coloring down to the core of the fibre.
Social quality label: ISO 9001 & environmental label: OEKO-TEX Standard 100, ISO 14001.
Production in Belgium
Belgium
Werner and his second-generation family business produce the carpets in Belgium. Glue from recycled car windows is used as part of our zero waste vision.
Quality label: TÜV PrOFICERT product Interior Standard.
Unshaved pile
Belgium
An unshaved pile creates a beautiful uneven effect, we discovered after some tests - zero waste and zero guilt. Another 5% waste avoided!
Finishing by hand
The Netherlands
Pedro, a man with passion and an eye for detail, and his team finish each Maison Forton by hand with high-quality materials and a non-slip back. Our personalized edge is actually stitched by hand!
Cutting waste
The Netherlands
The dimensions of the carpets are chosen to keep cutting waste to an absolute minimum. Is there anything left? We then make samples so that none of our materials are lost.
Transport to you!
We use trucks that would otherwise return home with an empty loading space for our transport through our partner. If you live around the corner, I would of course also be happy to deliver the carpet personally.
From 80%... to a 100% circular carpet
Our wild dream and goal is to go from 80% recycled material to a 100%
circular carpet to evolve to give your carpet a third life!
